Story

Following our successful 3 peaks of Yorkshire challenge last year we are upping our game for an even greater challenge.  The Lyke wake walk is a 42 mile challenge across the moorlands of North-East Yorkshire at their highest and widest part.  the walk is entirely within the North York Moors national Park.  The walk can be done in either direction but it must be done in 24 hours, there are no rules to the exact route so we may need to revise our map reading skills.  We start just outside Osmotherly finishing in Ravenscar on the East coast.  We expect it to take 16hours+ so we'll be starting in the early hours before dawn and hope to finish before dusk.  The distance itself is a challenge, however I think the terrain may itself be one too; the guide book states at one point you are advised to leave as much of your baggage / weight from your rucksack with the support crew because the heavier you are the further you will sink - referring to a particularly boggy 5 mile stretch.  Mmmmm.  The team is made up of 11 walkers and 2 support crew, they are:  David Fairclough, Barry Ansell, Scott Garvie, Mohammed Rahman, Adam Shone, Garreth Millett, Mike Palmer, Jaimy Cundall, Jeff Surtees, Alan Wilkes, Rob Muldoon, Keith Morton and Brad Marshall.

Our chosen charity is one our Division is Sainsbury's are supporting this year; Coventry and Warwickshire Mind, a local mental health charity affiliated to Mind; the leading mental health charity in England and wales.  for almost 50 years they have been developing and delivering quality services with, and for, people with mental health problems.

They want to make sure that everyone with a mental health problem gets the support they need and respect they deserve.  this could mean having access to information, a listening ear, or more specialist support and services to someone to live and recover from their problem.
