Many thanks for visiting my JustGiving Page. I’m running the Virgin London Marathon 2016 for British Heart Foundation on the 24th April 2016. It would be great if you could donate and share my Page so I can raise as much as possible to help them power research into heart disease to beat the UK’s single biggest killer. Thank you.

My reasons for running the Marathon are:

1. Coronary heart disease is the UK's single biggest killer. The British Heart Foundation are the nation's heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research.Their pioneering research has helped to transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. With your help,I would like to help them to carry on with their great work, anyone of us could need them one day.

2.My father fought heart disease most if his adult life and refused to allow it to stop him living life to the full.  He died aged 82 and I believe survived an extra 25 years because of the research and great work done enabling doctors to carry out a bypass operation on him back in 1989.  I am doing this in memory of his fighting spirit. His was a positive story and I would like to celebrate that.

3.I am not a runner and at my age frankly it is "so not cool" as my teenagers would tell me, to put yourself out there running for the first time. But, I have arterial disease in one leg and running I am told is literally preventing the need for any operations and halting the disease.  When I first started my training I had to get over excruciating cramping  pain in the first few miles to be able to run (or shuffle along with a little haste). Recently as I run more, this has been improving, so I am doing something right.
