Sally's Virtual GNR · 12 September 2021

WCT have two hostels for young people in Whitehaven, No.1 Lowther Street and Bakewell House. We also have Senhouse Street that provides services for people in Copeland.

Story

I've decided to join the virtual Great North run event, set up by Together We Can fundraising. Along with many other local people we'll be helping lots of local charities.

I will be walking the distance of the Great North Run which is just over 13 miles. I'll be walking this on the same day as the usual annual Great North Run which is on Sunday 12th September 2021 but we will be taking a more local route. Some of my family including my Grandson will be joining me. It took alot of courage for me to decide to do this and at nearly 63 I'm not getting any younger. Let's just hope I can make it to the finish line.

I have decided to help raise funds for Whitehaven Community Trust who run two hostels in Whitehaven, supporting 16-24 year olds who maybe facing homelessness. I feel passionate about helping this well worthy cause, as I myself have faced similar circumstances in the past. As i know first hand how this can make you feel, I now want to help where I can, especially to young people who may not have any other support than this charity.
