23rd July 2021   After 3 long years, Sal's journey here is now over and, for us, a new chapter begins. 

In the 36 months since she was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, she and her family have been on an amazing journey; a journey that has been enabled and enriched by the most wonderful support - not only from family and friends, neighbours and strangers, our local community and church, but above all by the medical teams in our NHS.

They lie at the very heart of this journey. Under-funded, stretched at every turn, yet delivering a level of excellence that has met every challenge. We have been so wonderfully supported by the Salisbury Hospice, the Palliative Care nursing team, the district nurses, physios and OT’s; the care has been all-embracing - and in the last months it extended to ‘hospice at home’ and their holistic care - and love.

When you are seriously unwell you soon discover how all-embracing and effective the NHS is - and it’s time we gave something back.

Salisbury Hospice Charity is at the heart of our community’s ability to deliver end-of-life care. It costs over £2 million a year to deliver their specialist care, yet they are less than 40% funded by the NHS. They never turn anyone in need away.

So we have extended 'Sally's Challenge' and we now have a final opportunity to raise even more funds in her name for the Hospice.  This will be looked after by the family. As well as Peter, there’s Mandy & Chris; Tim & Nell; Nick & Charlie; Lucy, Claire and Will. I hope that you will feel able to support them and in Sal's memory continue to raise funds for our Hospice.  Thank you.  Peter

Challenge 1 started in early September 2019.  It ws a team
walk over the New Forest tracks from Frogham to Fritham and back - a 13km round trip. Walking was very hard for Sal, but she did walk the
first 1km to launch this challenge.    The others walked the whole
course and the challenge delivered a total of just over 130 kms.
