"And YES, Scott Allison did it again! After following in footsteps of Ellen DeGeneres and re-enacting The Selfie, CSI’s Tech Americas President is back again with a great initiative that is taking over the world: the ‘Ice Bucket ‘challenge.
Scott follows in the footsteps of Bill Gates, LeBron James, Oprah Winfrey, Justin Timberlake and many more celebrities and everyday people doing their bit to raise funds and awareness for ALS.
The challenge dares nominated participants to have a bucket of ice water poured on their head. One common stipulation gives 24 hours from the time they are nominated to complete the dare; otherwise, the participant is asked to donate money to the ALS Association. President Barack Obama was among those choosing to donate in lieu of being drenched in ice cold liquid.
Scott Allison commented: ‘
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease with various causes. It is characterised by muscle spasticity, rapidly progressive weakness due to muscle atrophy, difficulty in speaking, swallowing and breathing. ALS is the most common of the five motor neuron diseases.
Tom Korte was a former CSI colleague who passed away couple of years ago because of ALS. In the memory of Tom, we will create a donation account to raise money to help the fight against this disease.
