Story
As a musculoskeletal (MSK) specialist Podiatrist working in private practice, I deal with all aspects of joint, back, muscle, bone & mis-alignment issues. People come to me in desperation with the pain they have borne for weeks, months or maybe years, in the hope that I can help them even just a little bit with their pain…..& I do in the main….I am one of the lucky ones….what I do makes a difference to actual lives.
Their pain is one I know only too well, as I too have borne it for years. That pain that never really goes away, just drags on, zapping all your energy as it eats away at your joints. As someone with “lived experience” of MSK issues & pain, it is much easier to understand other people’s pain.
Swimming…..low impact, weightless, carving up the water……apart from having to get wet, it has everything!
I have recently slowly started returning to swimming, but to get me right back into it, I commit to swimming 12K in the month of November to raise money for ARMA. ARMA is a charity that seeks to improve the lives of others, the individuals with pain. As a Trustee my job is to actively encourage the potential of reaching & influencing the top policy makers & people in power in the MSK world, to help improve the lives of each & every one of us who are in pain.
Learn more about ARMA & how it works at its flagship event on 6 December. Link: http://arma.uk.net/conference Do join us at the virtual conference.
But meantime please sponsor me to raise money for people who suffer from a range of musculoskeletal conditions as well as achieve my personal goal of swimming 12K in 30 days.
