Story

2nd OCTOBER 2022

We did it 💪🎉🚴❤️

3 days of full on hill climbs, cycling across 3 Croatian Islands. It’s been an incredible 2 1/2 year journey. Looking forward to the next challenge. Thanks to everyone who has supported me and the Fairy Bikers along the way. Your very generous donations are what kept me pedaling. Lots of love and hugs to you all ❤️

24th SEPTEMBER 2022:

It’s almost time to go and I’m feeling ready for it 💪

Time to get the job done. All in aid of fighting women’s cancer. Thanks to everyone who has followed my journey so far and for the numerous generous donations so far. Every penny counts towards fighting this cruel disease.

AUGUST 2022 UODATE:

Another 2 events under my belt in preparation for Croatia 2022.

On the 21st August, I rode 120km in the Le Champion Ronde Stelling van Amsterdam Cycle weekend. It felt great to add a few more kilometres to the tally.

One week later, it was time to take on a few hills in Northern Ireland for the annual Lap the Lough 140km loop around Europe’s largest lake, Lough Neagh. It felt good to have some gear practice and to sort out my breathing technique to tackle the hills which we don’t have in the Netherlands.

JULY 2022 UPDATE:

I'm pleased to report that I successfully completed the Women vs Cancer - London to Brighton cycle challenge on Sunday 3rd July with our Fairy Bikers Team Captain, Tracy.

The so-called gentle rolling hills felt more like small mountains and proved to be a much bigger challenge than I could ever have imagined. Thanks to Tracy, we both managed to keep each other going to get us both across the finish line. This London to Brighton challenge was just what we needed to give us a clear insight into what we still need to do to get us be done over the finish line in Dubrovnik for the 2022 Croatia Cycle Challenge.

My mission:

With the support of my family, friends & fellow Fairy Bikers, I'm raising funds for 3 amazing women's cancer charities - breast, cervical and ovarian cancer. I think most of us all know someone who has been affected by cancer, including one of our very original Fairy Bikers who has recently come through her very own battle with Breast Cancer since we started this campaign.

With our original London to Amsterdam cycle being cancelled, we transferred onto the Milan - Venice challenge which was due to take place in September 2021. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this was also cancelled. I am now busy training to take part in the Croatia Cycle Challenge from Split to Dubrovnik in September 2022 with the Fairy Bikers. Let's hope for 3rd time lucky!

If one of these three women's cancer charities mean something to you, this is a good opportunity to make a difference, no matter how small, every penny and cent adds up and counts. Money and donations aside, I totally appreciate all of your support, encouragement and love as I pedal my way towards the end goal.

Let's all keep fighting cancer together. Sallyx
