UPDATE: 1 DAY TO GO! The time has flown by, and many runs later the girls and I are starting to feel ready (kinda).
I have decided to run for Mind- the mental health charity who work at supporting and empowering those experiencing mental health problems.
I believe giving to Mind can help expand peoples knowledge of mental illnesses and give those suffering someone to turn to when they need it most. Mental health illnesses can make living a daily battle.
1 in 4 people will suffer from a mental illness.
Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the USA.
Yet, mental illness is still such a taboo topic.
Please: help me by becoming more educated and by becoming less judgemental.
TOGETHER WE CAN BREAK DOWN THE STIGMA AROUND MENTAL HEALTH It's OK not to be OK.
Here is some ways your money will support Mind:
£8.70 gives a lifeline to someone in desperate need of support by letting the mind Infoline team take their call.
£10 could help 30 people in need to receive practical advice through essential information booklets on important issues like depression or bereavement.
£15 could help someone experiencing mental health problems to take part in a group therapy session where they are encouraged to discuss their feelings.
£30 could help Mind work with the government to promote mental health needs and improve services for years to come.
£150 could help establish a vital support group at one of our local Mind associations assisting people with mental health problems in regaining confidence and self-esteem.
£250 could fund equipment for an art therapy group, so that people can express their feelings through art and start the healing process.
£500 could keep Minds legal advice service open for a day, helping people understand their rights and receive practical legal advice on mental health issues.
£1000 could help support a local Mind association befriending scheme. Trained workers make regular phone calls to isolated people who are at risk of developing depression and other mental health related problems.
