Story
I've decided to come out of my running retirement, dust off my running shoes and have a go at the London Landmarks Half Marathon. I haven't run this distance since 2017, and training is much harder than I remember! But I'm doing it to raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Research UK, the charity I work for.
I've worked for loads of charities, and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that ARUK is the best one out there. Everyday I'm inspired by my tireless colleagues, our amazing researchers, and our inspiring supporters.
This is also personal for me. My lovely Granny, Babs, taught me to knit and made the best gingerbread. She died of vascular dementia more than a decade ago - and sadly, we still don't have treatments that could stop dementia causing such devastation to our loved ones and families.
But hope is on the horizon. We're now at a tipping point for dementia research. Last year, a new treatment was found to slow down the decline that people experience. We have to go further faster and the money you donate will fund our research programme to make more breakthroughs possible and ensure that people can access the drugs they so desperately need. Please donate today if you can.
Thanks in advance for all your support, and see you at the finish line!
