Devon Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service provides a out of hours service to the NHS across Devon. We transport whole blood, medical samples, medication, patient notes, tissue samples for cross matching before transplant operations and donor breast milk. We receive no funding for this service.

Story

Its just a walk (or 3) in a park right?

For this challenge I will be walking Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon ( the tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales) in 24 hours - including travel time.

Devon Freewheelers provide a vital service to the NHS in Devon. When I found out that they even existed I was shocked as its something you just assume the NHS does. I didn't realise that need to provide emergency blood, etc around the clock quickly was handled by private charities and it is for this reason I have chosen to support them.

Devon Freewheelers EVS, also known as the Blood Bikes provides a free out of hours courier service to the NHS across Devon. The service is provided mainly on motorbikes, ridden by volunteers. The Blood Bikes carry whole blood, blood and other medical samples, medication, emergency medical equipment, tissue samples for cross matching before transplant operations and donor breast milk for premature babies. The charity receives no funding from the NHS for this service and relies on public donations to be able to continue to operate.
