Story
After catching the Ultra Endurance Bug last year, on May 29th I will be attempting to 'Trench' The Dale in Hathersage. This involves descending (and obviously descending) the vertical depth of the Mariana Trench (11034m). This consists of 57 reps of the same climb which covers nearly 300km and will take around 15 hours to complete I will be doing this all to try and raise £800 for CALM to fund 100 potentially lifesaving calls. The chances are you or someone you know has experienced mental health problems and in these testing times the support of those who may be struggling is becoming increasingly important. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives with 75% of them being men, suicide is also the biggest killer of men under the age of 45. Issues such as loneliness, uncertainty about the future and the loss of jobs exacerbated during lockdown can lead to anxiety, depression and other severe mental health issues. During the months since social distancing guidelines were announced Samaritans reported 1.7m calls to their helplines. CALM (The Campaign Against Living Miserably) exists to support those who are struggling with their mental health and aims to reduce to the prevalence of suicide, and with as many donations as possible they can support as many people as need supporting.
