Brathay - London Marathon
Campaign by Brathay Trust (RCN 1021586)
Running a marathon is an enormous personal achievement. Our London Marathon Golden Bond runners not only complete one of the most famous races in the world, but also raise funds to support some of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.

Story

I am running the 26.2 mile course to raise funds for Brathay Trust in memory of a close friend Matt Campbell who unfortunately died running the same event last year.

I met Matt back in 2009 when we worked together in Meribel looking after a ski chalet. He took care of the food being an incredibly gifted chef and I had the easier job of driving guests to and from the slopes.

Matt's enthusiasm for life, adventure and pushing the limits was infectious and from day one we got like a house on fire. He was a true people person, the heart of the party and easily persuaded others out of their comfort zone to join him for the ride.

In a tribute to a truly great guy I'm taking a leap outside of my comfort zone but couldn't be happier to be running in his memory. Made better that it's for such a worthy charity that I know he and his father were truly passionate about!

Thank you for your support in helping me to reach my target for Matt!

We work with a wide range of young people, often with fewer opportunities in life, including those managing the transition from living in care to independence, at risk of exploitation in unhealthy relationships, needing confidence to find work or training, or facing other challenges in their lives.
