Story
Hi, I'll be running in The October Royal Parks Half-Marathon to raise funds for The Bhopal Medical Appeal!
Established in 1994, The Bhopal Medical Appeal is a small charity based in Brighton. It supports two partner clinics, The Sambhavna Trust and The Chingari Rehabilitation Centre in Bhopal, India.
The 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy - the world's worst industrial disaster - impacted thousands of Bhopalis. From immediate death, to poisoning, contaminated water, it is the world's forgotten cause.
The Chingari Rehabilitation Centre supports over 200 registered children in Bhopal. Affected by the subsequent water contamination, these children and their families are living in extreme poverty. Both The Sambhavna Clinic and The Chingari Rehabilitation Centre provide free medical care.
I'm hoping to raise £300.00 for children like Zoya (in the photo). She is being cradled by her grandmother and carer, Aisha. Zoya is one of the patients at The Chingari Rehabilitation Centre and your donation will help cover the costs of physical therapy, speech therapy and other vital measures to ensure she lives a life of hope and dignity.
