Hello and welcome to our just giving page for the prudential 100mile.
Back in October I lost my father to a cancerous Brain tumour. Dad fought with everything he had, and as expected always exceeded expectations and pushed himself to the max. Unfortunately though, no matter how hard the fight the tumour grew at an ever increasing rate and was no longer manageable.
Dad was always active and I know that if he was still with us that he would be on the start line alongside Alex (hockey) and me.
About the race; the Prudential Ride London- Surrey 100 is a 100 mile challenge on closed roads through London and Surrey climbing some the counties largest and longest hills. Starting at the Olympic Park before winding through the streets of Chiswick, Kingston and Walton before reaching the home of the Maycock's in the mighty West Horsley.
Next comes the hills, Newlands Corner, Abinger Hammer, Leith Hill and Box Hill all come in quick succession and bring us to the 70 mile mark. As our speed returns, we begin the sprint back into London taking in Leatherhead, Esher and Wimbledon on our way before the victory mile down the mall.
The charity we will be raising money for is Brain Tumour Research who were a great support to my father. I know that they are working hard to help others in the same unfortunate situation. In the U.K alone 16,000 people a year are diagnosed with a brain tumour, of which less than 20% survive longer than 5 years from diagnosis. The charity continue to support campaigns to improve research and promote awareness whilst acting as a vital lifeline to the families affected.
Please donate to this great cause, with as little or much as you can.
We will be out in our bright pink outfits, so please get out on the course and come to support us, we will need the encouragement.
Thank you
Samuel and Alex
