Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Marie Curie Cancer Care provide high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families.
I am doing this event to thank them for the support and help they gave to my dear freind Maria who found herself in need of their care. Maria died in November last year, at the age of 42, after finding she had cancer earlier in that year. Maria wanted to spend her last days in her own home with her family. I can not thank enough the nurses that came and cared for Maria throughout the night during her last week at home.
Maria was a dear friend but also my running partner and she loved cycling, running and keeping fit. She raised money herself for Marie Curie and loved a challenge. This is my time to raise money to help other families that find themselves in this same situation.
I am taking part in the Purple Mountain 150 mile challenge starting in Grange over Sands on the 21st June and finishing in Scarborough on the 23rd. With 50 miles to ride each day, this ride will be hard. I have not been on my bike since last summer and those rides were with Maria who was in treatment and finding it very difficult to sit and walk. A real fighter she used a padded seat and didn't give up completing a couple of ten mile rides.
I will be doing this ride with my husband Paul, Maria's husband James and a group of friends all coming together to say "thank you" Marie Curie.
