Walk with Captain Tom · 2 December 2020 ·

Campaign by The Captain Tom Foundation (RCN 1189808)
Captain Sir Tom is on a mission to encourage everyone to walk at home, outside, in the garden, in the park anywhere at all. Walk to help yourself and keep your mind happy. Talk to help someone else give them a call. Together lets spread hope

Story

When the Country hit the second national lockdown, The Captain Tom Foundation launched Walk with Captain Tom. Its mission was to get as many people as possible walking and talking, spreading hope and easing loneliness.

In recent months, Captain Sir Tom became the face of hope in these dark times and after the sad news of him loosing his final battle with COVID 19, our U10's team was inspired to carry on spreading that hope.

So to honour his memory and also help keep their minds and bodies healthy, the boys from Sacred Heart FC U10s, along with their parents, have pledged to join Sir Tom's army and walk/run 5000km in a bid to help carry on the amazing work he has started with his foundation. The foundation supports a number of amazing charities including Mind, The Royal British Legion and some local Hospices.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to cause so much uncertainty and strain, particularly for those facing loneliness, bereavement and mental health issues, and we want to help as much as we can and show Sir Tom his legacy lives on.

"Tomorrow will be a good day!"  Captain Sir Tom Moore 1920-2021
