Story
Dear All
It was in 2006 that I lost my mum; my best friend.
In spite of her courage; strength of will; dignity and smile, cancer took her away from me and those who loved her dearly, both slowly and painfully.
My precious Mum can never be replaced but so “super dooper” was she that I know her memory lives on.
I can only aspire to be as kind; as courageous and as generous as she and as I strive in vain to be so, I will continue to make it my mission to raise as much money as I can to support Cancer Research UK in the hope of saving even just one family; one daughter; one friend, from the devastating effects of cancer and the pain of grief which follows the loss of a much treasured loved one such as my Mum.
To that end whilst the patriotic amongst you mark the Diamond Jubilee with bunting; a cucumber sandwich and glass of Pimms, Sarah Worton, one of my most treasured friends and I, in a moment of lunacy, have entered the Bridgnorth Walk.
The Walk is a total distance of 22 miles from Bridgnorth to Cleobury North, to the summit of the Brown Clee (at 546m, the highest point in the West Midlands) and then through Ditton Priors back to Bridgnorth (and then would you believe, having crossed the finish line at the Town Hall, if you make it home in good time, you are met by the Mayor who invites you to walk to the other end of town to the Castle Hall to collect your sponsor form and enjoy a cup of tea – Sarah and I have already placed an order for something much stronger – but not those ghastly green chilli sambuca’s!!!!!)
We shan’t let you down!!!!!!
