Story
Every five minutes in the UK someone experiences rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault by penetration. 15% of girls and 5% of boys have experienced sexual violence by the time they are sixteen. The Survivors Trust is the only UK and Ireland-wide umbrella agency for specialist organisations supporting all survivors of rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse. Our core aim is to ensure that society supports all survivors effectively and takes responsibility for ending sexual violence. Help us to achieve this.
It’s that time of year again to start planning the next activity to raise funds for The Survivors Trust. This Trust helps so many survivors of sexual abuse, as well as providing data, research, and advice to other institutes such as Police and Healthcare providers in relation to sexual abuse and how to support victims. It is such an important Trust and they need every bit of financial support we can give them so they can carry on with the amazing work they do.
So, I am planning another challenge in the mountains, only this time, the challenge will be based in Ireland in July 2020. I am planning to climb in the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks in County Kerry, where the highest mountain stands at 1,038m, Carrauntuohill, and also plan to summit its sister peak, Knocknapeasta (988m). From there I plan to climb in the Brandon group of mountains and summit the third highest peak, Brandon (meaning Brendan’s Hill, 952m). Lastly, I will travel north east to Co. Wicklow, where I will summit Lugnaquilla (925m).
Derek and Brad were so much support for me last year and couldn’t have done it without them, and they have agreed to support me again this year. I am really looking forward to the challenge. I will be posting videos and funding info over next few weeks, and would like to invite anyone who is interested, to walk with us this year.
