Sam & Fiona

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My Dad & Fiona's husband, Peter, was diagnosed with advanced cancer on 26th March 2018. He passed away in Rotherham Hospice on 8th April 2018 after losing a battle that we didn't know he was having.
As soon as we received the diagnosis Rotherham Hospice staff came out to see us to try to help us come to terms with the news that we'd received. The doctors and nursing staff helped as much as they could at home but on Monday 2nd April he was taken in to the Hospice so they could look after Dad during his last few days.
The staff at the Hospice were so kind and welcoming. They worked through Dad trying to escape & come home, people coming to see him in various states of shock & they allowed Fiona to take Cracker, our dog, in to see Dad.
Everyone at the Hospice helped Fiona, me and my sisters Mel & Abi. During those few days the staff, from the medical staff to the volunteers and everyone in between, listened to us talk, let us cry & offered us time to try and process the huge shock we'd had.
For Dad, the Hospice was the place he wanted to be (even if he did try to escape) rather than the hospital. He was safe, he was comfortable and, most improtantly, he wasn't in any pain.
The Hospice helped, and are still helping, us all. The opportunity to take part in Glow with the Flow and raise money for them is something neither Fiona or myself could pass up. We're still processing what's happened, everything is still quite raw, but we'd very much like to give back to the Hospice in whatever way we can.
Thank you for reading and thank you for your donation. We all appreciate it and Dad would be happy to know we're doing this for him.
