Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2019 · 26 May 2019 ·
**This funding has been carried over from 2019 where I was injured during my training. I am now training for the 2020 race**
I’m running the Edinburgh Marathon for BEAT, who do incredible work for the many people living with eating disorders, as well as those supporting sufferers through treatment. They raise awareness on what is a deeply isolating condition, as well as debunking the idea that eating disorders are addictions or easily controlled/ cured.
I continue to live with EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified) that I was diagnosed with back in 2008 but through the services and advice charities like BEAT have provided me, I have learned ways to conquer the daily impact of my illness. I have relapsed on a few occasions but running has played a huge part in keeping my mind and relationship with my body healthy.
Fundraising for BEAT also comes at a time of huge cuts to mental health services and growing waiting lists for the NHS services I was fortunate enough to access during my recovery. Those effected by eating disorders are on the increase and many of which escalate into life threatening places. Please help support a charity that saves lives and guides individuals through what at times feels impossible.
