I registered for the London marathon during lockdown- you know, one of those things you do and hope you never get picked ! And I did- typical. I thought about hanging up my shoes and declining the place but I couldn’t. Two of my dearest friends were fighting their own battles and this was my chance to do something good- and for them. So Saffy and Craig- this is for you.

Both 37 and so much life ahead of them. Craig I had known since I was 4 ( that’s 33 years of friendship).The first “ boy- friend” I had . Endless summers playing in our gardens before sneaking through the fence to each other’s house with Jennie alongside. These kind of memories stay with us. As Craig grew up his infectious smile and personality would be there whenever you wanted a cocktail in town- he was the best cocktail maker. Sadly he died in December due to cancer. He fought with dignity - so Craig this is for you!

And Saffy- one of life’s most loveliest of people. We met at JCG age 11 (26 years ago!) and naturally as life goes on you come together and drift apart but when you’re together the fun never ends. Through babies ( yes we were pregnant together - including Vicky and Gemma), weddings ( so many amazing weddings), parties, nights out at Valentino’s , the venue and of course “ happy hardcore” music. We all had so much fun. I asked Saffy to choose a charity- she chose FOJO. They did so much to help when she was being treated - so my fate was sealed. I have to do this- for her.

My reason for running has changed- I’m not bothered about times , I’m running because I can and because I told her I would do this.

You better be watching down on me you two. When I start swearing and giving up- give me a sign!
