On the 5th June 2021, William and Eleanor will both join the latter stages of the Hooker 100k cycle ride through the Devonshire countryside and finishing on Budleigh Salterton Beach.

The ride was set up by the BG&E Cycle Club in memory of their grandfather, Colin Hooker, who they sadly never met as he died 4 months after being diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2006. Then in September 2020 their own Dad and Colin’s son, Ivan also sadly died having lived with sinus cancer for 3 years. So this year’s ride will be particularly poignant and a time to remember Colin and Ivan, both keen cyclists.

William and Eleanor, aged 8 and 5 years, will have to keep up with some serious cyclists and contend with some Devonshire hills. They would be very happy if you are able to sponsor them. They have chosen to raise money for Sue Ryder who helped their Daddy throughout his illness especially in the last 6 months of his life following brain surgery. Sue Ryder also provide ongoing bereavement support to me, their Mummy.  

Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
