My name is Sam, I’m a 21 year-old student from Cheshire and I recently underwent a unilateral oophorectomy (removal of one ovary and the Fallopian tube) because they found a mass that no one was sure about.
Two weeks later, I was told it was stage one cancer.
I am an extremely lucky person, and it’s woken me up to realise how valuable life is. Lots of people don’t get the chance to just have a surgery and carry on, and I want to raise some money so that research can be done to help people that aren’t so lucky. We don’t know enough about ovarian cancer, and this money could help. It could help save future me if my cancer were to come back.
So I’m going to make the most of my good health and my need to shout from the rooftops about the importance of getting checkups; I’m going to run a half marathon! I’ll start small (running lots of 10ks) but I hope my story can inspire you to spread awareness and if you have the means - to donate!
