Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running the Bupa 10,000 running event on the 30th May 2011 in London.
The charity of my choice if The Alzheimer's Society
A year and a half ago my mum was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's desease, which has totally devastated me. She is just 64...65 in August.
This desease affects and causes a loss of brain function that is usually progressive and there is currently no cure. However, there are drugs available, which help to stabilise this condition, but as the original source of Alzheimer's desease is not 100% known, no cure has yet been found.
The Alzheimer's Society is a fantastic society which helps not only people like my mum, but also provides support to the families involved. They are 110% committed to fight this desease.
They look at several key areas that are often over looked, which include: the rights of an Alzheimer patient, providing information and support, funding research, providing kearning resources and training, campaigning for improved health and social care and improving public understanding and awareness of dimentia.
I want to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society in order to help fight this desease, as it is heart breaking to see someone that was so full of life, a real go-getter, kind and general wonderful person deteorating rapidly.
I don't really run, EVER, except for the occasional sprint for the bus on the way to work- and it is not a pretty sight!!! so this is going to be a challenge....but all worth it in my eyes!
I am asking for any donations be it £0.10p to £20.00 as every penny counts.
I want to help fight against Alzheimer's desease and support the Alzheimer's Society continue to provide hope for families affected.
Thanks for reading and sorry about the essay!
