Burton to Morecambe - 15 mile walk · 29 June 2019

Our children's home in Kenya offers a home to 72 orphaned and impoverished children on the streets of Kisumu providing them with food, shelter and medical care. But, we desperately want to help more children in the local community starting with our feeding program. The children we meet are amazing young people with so much potential and so little opportunity. They are very short of food and often go to school hungry. For many, the only meal they receive each day will be from their school. As a UK based charity, we can keep tabs on exactly where the money goes because we go out there directly and ensure it is spent correctly. With the funds that you donate we can expand our feeding program to reach more children and put food in more little tummies. Please help in any way you can, in Africa a small amount of money goes a long way and feeds more children. Thank you!

Story

I will be joining supporters across the UK who are undertaking to walk 15 miles to raise money for Kisumu Children Trust. This is the average distance the children supported by the charity walk to and from school each week!  The money raised will buy food and clothes for 10 very poor children in Kenya.

Kisumu Children Trust supports the Cherry Brierley Children's Home which cares for 72 children from impoverished backgrounds.  The children have lost one or both parents and the home provides a safe, simple home with clean water, good diet, clothes and medical care, within a loving Christian family environment.  All children receive primary education and the opportunity to go on to secondary education, apprenticeships, vocational training, college or university as they have the ability.

The charity is now looking to support more children from the surrounding community, among whom are the 10 children being supported by this event.
