Story

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Inshallah next month we will be trekking Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK (at 1345 metres/ 4413 ft) to help give hundreds of people the basic human right of clean water.

Everyday, around 4,000 children die from drinking dirty, diseased water.

That's one child every 20 seconds.

When it comes to clean water, we fail to count it amongst our blessings let alone give it a second thought. Despite this, it is still gifted to us for free and in the purest way possible. However in many parts of the world, unfortunately, they don’t share that same privilege.

To help tackle this issue, we aim to raise over £1500 for our brothers and sisters across the globe. With this money, Penny Appeal will build rainwater harvesting systems, handpump water wells, deep water wells, solar panel water and power centres in various communities, on a where-most-needed basis.

On the authority of Sa‘d ibn ’Ubadah (ra) who said, ’I asked, “O Messenger of Allah! Which charity is best?” He [saw] replied, “Providing water”’. (Ibn Majah)

Drinking dirty, diseased water is one of the most common causes of death in the developing world - and one of the most preventable. So, with your donation to our Walk for Water appeal, you will be providing water to an entire community, saving and transforming countless lives for years to come, benefitting not only them, but yourself.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), or knowledge from which benefit is gained, or a righteous child who prays for him’. (Sahih Muslim)

Allow this to be a Sadaqah Jariyah for you. A reward that is constantly flowing to your bank of good deeds, automatically piling up each time an animal takes a sip of water or when someone performs wudhu without you even having to lift a finger. You’ll forget about this donation you’ve made within a few months but the people you’ve gifted it to will never forget. Allow this to be another way of you entering paradise whilst helping those who need you.

Please help spread the word.

And remember, It’s the intention that counts and not the amount. So no matter how small, please do try to donate!

Note: Please gift aid your donations. This will add 25% to your donations at no extra cost to you :)
