Story
Hey! We will be walking / running 26.2 miles over the month of May as part of the Big Marathon Month Challenge to raise vital funds for Emmaus UK. I have been in the charity world for 16 years now and Emmaus is unlike any charity I have experienced, helping people rebuild their confidence, their self esteem and their lives, putting humans first, always and setting them on the path for a better future.
Those of you who know me well will also know of the battle my legs and I have had over the past five or so years. I want to run; they're not so keen. About 16 months ago I decided to take some fairly life changing steps to win the battle once and for all and this marathon challenge by Emmaus seems a pretty good way to mark the end of that war.
My battle is pretty small in the grand scheme of things and working for Emmaus has given me an enormous amount of perspective on the real issues people can face every day.
Life can be full of challenges and sometimes we need a hand to reach out and help. Emmaus is here for those who need a new start. And so am I. And Gus? He's my wing man, because Emmaus is all about having a good support team.
