Story

Hi everyone, hope you are all well!

I am raising money for UNICEF to aid in the crisis happening in Yemen today. UNICEF is trying to help the children across Yemen who have been impacted by conflict, attempting to recover what's left of their childhood.

Rooting back to their failed political transition, instability, attacks by jihadist, the Houthi movement and most recent the Saudi led coalition air strikes has caused severe ecological crisis in the country. As of March 2020, the United Nation has confirmed at least 7,700 deaths of civilians whereby mortality was mostly due to the air strikes from Saudi. Nonetheless, the true recording of mortality rate in Yemen is said to much more exhaustive with more than 100,000 fatalities and 12,000 deaths being reported by ACLED. In this conflict, women and children are maimed and killed continuously and the destruction of hospitals and institutions such as schools and colleges have left people with limited access to health services and education. Many civilians are dying of preventable illnesses such as malnutrition and poor health due to the lack of food, water and medical supplies. It has been said that approximately 80% of the country require humanitarian assistance and protection, that's around 24 million Yemenis whereby 12.3 million of those are children. Statistics have shown 20 million people in need of food supplies, of those 2 million are malnourished under 5 years of age and are just a step away from being famine. Millions of children are lacking proper sanitation facilities and clean water.

Prior to Covid-19, thousands of Yemenis including children have been affected by constant war and presently, tens of thousands more children are vulnerable to developing life threatening illnesses. There is no place in Yemen that is safe for children. With a little bit of help from you and/or your family, we could make life changing differences for these children, most of which have probably been living in poverty and deprivation. In this world of cruelty and violence, could you help us become united for the sake of the children who no longer recognise hope. Aid us in achieving even a fraction of a silver lining, so that the people of Yemen know the world has not forgotten about them.
