Exciting News: I’m Running the London Landmark Marathon in April!
After some persuasion, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of running the London Landmark Marathon to help raise crucial funds for researching a treatment for Retinitis Pigmentosa for the gene RDH12!
We’re entering an exciting phase as we currently have a medical treatment in development that shows promising potential to slow or even stop the progression of this eye condition, which leads to blindness in adults, including myself.
My late father always held onto hope for a treatment. He would read everything from old-fashioned teletexts to traveling to Gibraltar seeking miracle cures—unfortunately, without success.
It was a rare twist of fate that I met Silvia, a colleague who also had a daughter with the same genetic eye condition. I saw the same determination in Silvia that I had witnessed in my own parents—a drive to find a cure. Initially, I thought there was no chance for us, and I tried to reassure her that life can still be fulfilling for blind individuals—I’m doing okay, after all!
over the years, I’ve been inspired by Silvia’s relentless determination. She has successfully raised funds to initiate research for RDH12—a feat that had never been considered before. Through her efforts, she has built a global community of individuals affected by this condition, convinced doctors to explore potential solutions, and financed crucial research. This work aims to help children like Silvia’s daughter, Viki, see in their adult lives—something I wish I could have experienced, but I’m grateful for what I have!
Now, it’s my turn to do my part. I aim to raise significant funds to support this treatment as it progresses to clinical trials. I need to train for this half marathon, and I would greatly appreciate your support!
Can you please consider sponsoring me with a goal of raising £10,000? Together, we can make a difference!
Thank you for your support!
