Pilgrims Hospices is a charity providing palliative care, free of charge, to people in east Kent. For people with a range of life-limiting illnesses, specialist services are provided from our three hospices in Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet, in patients' homes and via community programmes.

<p><span style="border-collapse: collapse;">&nbsp;</span></p> <div class="MsoNormal" style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in;"><span style="font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;">As many of you know on the 19th October 2011 my mother lost a brave prolonged battle against cancer.</span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;">The last few weeks of her life were spent at the Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury and my family and I cannot speak highly enough of the care, patience and compassion shown by the staff which made her last few days as comfortable as possible.</span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;">In order to ensure they can continue to provide this support my father, brother and I are all undertaking challenges to raise funds for the hospice as they are dependent upon donations in order to carry out their activities. Only 25% of their revenue is paid by the Area Health Authority the rest has to be provided through charitable donations and fund raising events.</span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;">I am undertaking the Paris marathon on the 15th April and my equally unfit brother Danny and my 70 yr old father are undertaking a 75 kilometre bike ride. &nbsp;Paris was my mother's favourite City (and perfume !) and therefore it seems an appropriate place to run for her.</span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;"><br></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: small;">I would really be grateful if you were able to contribute anything to help spur us on and to raise money in memory of Mum who we will miss for the remainder of our lives.</span></span></div> <p class="MsoNormal" style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;;"></span></span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
