Young Epilepsy is dedicated to standing up for children and young people with epilepsy. We’re here for them. But we need your support because epilepsy is limiting the chances of thousands of children today and may continue to do so for the rest of their lives. Together we create possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit.. ...

OUR STORY:  Callum (9) was diagnosed at age 3 with 2 types of Epilepsy Atonic Seizures and Absent Seizures. In the start it was like
a roller coaster what can we do, What meds to take/ is it working....for a
while Callum put on weight/ he lost weight/ Callum even suffered an allergic reaction due to Meds BUT did that stop him NO he was running around our local children's ward the next day.

THE HIGHS: Since starting Keppra 2014 we have sustained majority of Callum episodes unless he is battling an infection or virus he is getting stronger. 2015-2016 so far has seen Callum condition turn around Atonic episode have reduced 2x in 1 year Absent we have had 3 which was when Callum was fighting Flu or a virus. The progress Callum has made has allowed him to join Judo he took part in his first competition in March were he placed 3rd FIRST TIME. Callum is also allowed to ride to school solo or with a friend who have thought of a safety plan should or If Callum has a Seizure.

THE BEST PART: Feb 2016 Callum was told that if he carries on the way he is in 2 years we will start to withdraw from medication the happiness in my sons face reduced him to tears of Joy an satisfaction that he is getting stronger…

Why Young Epilepsy: When Callum was diagnosed I was clueless, i assumed Epilepsy was visual not what I had been experiencing with Callum, The Young Epilepsy charity was a shoulder to cry on a understanding not only to me but to Callum,  We would attended coffee days an walks giving Callum the chance to interact an share his story with other children.

LETS RAISE SOME MONEY: this year’s challenge, I try to do something every year for Epilepsy I usually run but I did not see this as a challenge I thought of all the challenges / Obstacles Callum has had to face... SO I’m doing Tough Mudder (ekkk) I’m scared of heights, I’m not a strong swimmer and I freak at enclosed spaces plus I can’t even do a press up… on the 24th Sep 2016 myself and my warrior Princess Dawnie will work together to complete the course (gulp) we are using our strengths an pushing are bodies through fire, electric, mud, ICE, dye an whatever else the course chucks at us!!!

TRAINING: Callum will also be training with me he cannot take part in the course for obvious reasons but we will have so much fun running an crawling in the mud :)

SOCIAL MEDIA :We will also be uploading training videos to my snap chat an social feeds so you can watch smile laugh an cringe!!

THANK YOU  On behalf of Callum, Dawn and I we would
appreciate any donation an good luck wishes in our journey.
