I have decided to run the Great North Run again (I must be CRAZY!) this year, for a cause closer to home. This year I am raising money for The Great North Childrens Hospital Foundation at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle (NUT/0000022713/0000000391)
The reason I have chose GNCH this year, is to give back and say thanks to them for everything that have helped us with, with Carwyn. He is currently under their respiratory, allergy & immunology, dietician, gastro and dermatology departments for his severe asthma, multiple allergies, dodgy immune system and eczema. We have had multiple admissions (over 50 now) into this hospital when he has been extremely poorly with his asthma, and we have had some quite scary moments in GNCH (including trips to the resus room) with him, but the staff throughout the whole hospital have always gone above and beyond to keep him safe. There is no doubt about it, they have saved his life. So it only seems right to me that I can give something back to them.
Every single member of staff we have come across has been amazing. We have been treat with the utmost respect and they have always done their best by Carwyn. In the clinics, we are always listened to, and I have gained a lot of knowledge from the consultants and nurses, which I wouldn’t know otherwise. They are always so friendly and caring towards Carwyn and I know that he is ALWAYS in safe hands with these guys. It’s means a lot, as a parent, to be able to put your child’s life into somebody else’s hands and know they’ll be safe. At GNCH you know this is the case.
It’s not just about Carwyn though, they treat and care for hundreds, if not thousands of other children within the North East and even further afield. Minor ailments and the most serious of diseases. And I know that every child and every parent will be treat with the same respect and the same dignity. This hospital really do go above and beyond. The facilities are amazing. The staff are amazing. The care and support is amazing.
So please do dig deep and help me support this wonderful local children’s hospital, which makes a difference to so many children’s and their families lives x
