Story
On the 18th of September, a small collective of part-time (wannabe) cycling enthusiasts and I, will be testing our legs and endurance on a bike ride from London and finishing in Keynsham, Bristol. The day will start at 5:00am on Saturday 18th, departing Temple Meads, Bristol on a 5:30am train and arrive at Paddington just after 7:00am We shall then embark on a circa 230km ride, navigating our way back on a mixture of A and B roads, working our way through Farnborough, Basingstoke, Stone Henge, Bath, eventually rocking back up in Bristol - so we'd all appreciate if someone in our network can connect us with a Vasaline sponsorship. Bristol Suicide Prevention is a local charity, funded purely on donations. They're having it tougher now more than ever, with previous fundraisers canceled and funds at an all-time low, I wanted to utilise my network of friends, family and professionals to do what I can to help. They train volunteers in de-escalating situations and reassuring a voice on the other end of a phone, that things will be okay. They also run patrols every night to walk the paths to notice people that are feeling suicidal and struggling with mental health, providing a last line service and showing that people care. The suicide rates of young males makes up 75% of this statistic, so we want to raise the profile and awareness of Bristol Suicide Prevention so you know there are people to listen.
