Kilimanjaro expedition - February 23rd · 23 February 2018 to 4 March 2018 ·

The BecomingX Foundation supports people in underserved communities and helps them to realise their full potential, no matter what their starting point in life. We demystify what it takes to succeed and help people build the skills and confidence to succeed.

Story

In February 2018 I will be climbing Kilimanjaro - the world's highest free standing mountain (at 19,300ft tall!!). On a 9 day charity expedition, I will battle my way across 5 different ecosystems, climb over 5km in height, and hopefully avoid altitude sickness.

Why: I am undertaking this huge challenge for Becoming X - a charity that helps young people all around the world build the skills and confidence they need to realise their full potential. They demystify what it takes to succeed. This is a cause close to my heart following on from my long-term involvement supporting the Prince's Trust Young Enterprise programme.

Who with: I am trekking up Kilimanjaro as part of a team of 30 but will be sharing a tent as well as this experience with Zak Cook as team 'Resources' - you can track our progress together here: https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/ResourcesKili

Outcomes: through your support of my trek, BecomingX will be able to

  • Deliver skills sessions to 5,000 school children
  • Launch a global skills platform
  • Demystify success through 10 celebrity showcases

Additionally, through their partnerships, BecomingX also support broader objectives to help:

  • Unicef deliver 30,000 exercise books to150 schools
  • Enactus fund a global competition for 80,000 students
  • OneYoungWorld provide two scholarships

Becoming X is a newly established charity so your contribution will make a huge difference - you can track progress on their exciting plans at: http://www.becomingx.org/

100% of your donation will go to charity (aside from the nominal JustGiving fees). Thank you for any contribution you can make towards this cause!
