Typhoon Goni and Vamco are deadly, having caused severe damage to infrastructure, livelihoods and homes. With your support today, we can respond quickly, providing families with emergency shelter to support their recovery after utter destruction.

Story

This past November, the Philippines was hit by a number of typhoons, the most notable ones known locally as Ulysses and Goni. The Philippines has as such suffered much damage to their infrastructure and agricultural industries - means of living and work - valued to be above $100million USD. The Cagayan Valley province in the north in particular experienced extreme flooding and landslides, which has reportedly displaced over 75,000 residents.

By vote and virtue of our two Filipino committee members, we plan to raise funds from our 37hr Round Trip to Tokyo! event towards this cause by donating proceeds to Shelterbox. In essence, Shelterbox aims to provide relief kits with essentials (water, blankets and mosquito nets for instance) for those in the worst affected areas.

Throughout our campaign, we aim to collectively walk and run 37 hours in total, which is the same amount of time it would take to fly to Tokyo and back! Although many of us won't be living our anime dreams and going to Tokyo any time soon, we thought we should use our passion to help those who are truly in need.
