At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Andy and I are once again doing a Memory Walk to honour both his dad, Donald Auty, who passed away 1st November 2013 and my mum, Pauline Bland, who passed away 7th March 2007.

Both our parents suffered from dementia and we know only too well the effects of this terrible disease on not only the sufferers themselves, but also on their family, friends and carers.

We have decided to do the organised walk at Roundhay Park this year rather than our 'own version' that we did last year. We received tremendous support last year and raised almost £900 for this very worthy cause. This year we have set our target at £500.

I will be doing the 10km walk and Andy (due to a dodgy back) will be doing the 2km walk. To help track the distance and to keep me motivated - I will be taking 10 balloons each with the name of a loved one or friend who we have either lost or is currently still suffering with dementia.

Please, please support this very worthy cause.
