We are Sleeping Rough so others don't have to!!
For a 5th year my husband Stephen and I have decided to brave the elements and sleep rough for 1 night to raise awareness of youth homelessness and raise essential funds for YMCA Exeter's fantastic ongoing work.
We will be sleeping under the stars (if we are lucky) with a group of friends all to raise money for this worthy cause.
One of the current residents said:
“As lockdown hit, my partner of two years broke up with me and I suddenly found myself homeless. It was a nightmare, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. The worst part was finding somewhere to go to the loo. I had nowhere to shower so I probably smelt quite a bit. I was able to move into a shared house at YMCA Exeter Supported Accommodation – YMCA support is brilliant, I really needed it’ – YMCA Exeter
Since 2011, YMCA Exeter have provided accommodation and housing to over 1100 young people. The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a significant increase in need across Exeter. YMCA Exeter are responding to this problem and supporting young people in our community.
