Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In January 2022 I will be undertaking the biggest physical challenge of my life- climbing Al 5,895 meters of Kilimanjaro! I’m hoping my efforts will help me to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK because I think it is the organisation my mother would have chosen to support.

Over the last 7 or 8 years, my family and I have seen the gradual, unrelenting, heartbreaking decline in my mother, caused by this terrible disease. It has affected every aspect of her life, and as a family we have had to adapt to give her the support and care she needs. 

We don’t know why our mother has this disease. Apart from this, she is remarkably healthy and she always tried to keep her mind active.

While there are are some medications currently available, in my mother's case we haven’t seen any evidence of improvement, or even a slowing in its progression. More and more people are predicted to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and we hope organisations like Alzheimer’s Research UK will be able to identify the cause and find a way to prevent, halt or cure it.
