Story
On the weekend of Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th July I will
attempt to bake 500 (mini!) scones to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.
In September 2020 I lost a friend – Lucy Ogilvie – to bowel cancer. https://uk.gofundme.com/f/lucy039s-legal-drug039s-fund
Then in January 2021 I learned that my own brother Justin had been diagnosed with the same disease.
So you could say that I am more than slightly annoyed as well as incredibly saddened that it has struck again.
It develops at such speed that as a bystander I’ve felt utterly helpless and hopeless. So in an effort to do something positive and not disappear into a rabbit hole of
despair, I’ve decided to do some baking.
Please, please, please, please (please) support me and my oven as I proceed to make a mess of my kitchen for a great cause.
On Sunday 18th July around 3pm - if the weather allows - I will bring the scones to Waterlow Park and if you are in the area, please do stop by with a picnic blanket, a bottle of something sparkling for yourself and a plate to pick up a free scone or 10.
And if you live locally to me and fancy helping me put jam and cream in 500 scones let me know, otherwise I may have to reschedule the scone distribution to early 2022.
Many many thanks. Sara x
