The Ovarian Cancer Walk - London · 14 October 2017 ·

The Ovarian Cancer Walk is back, bigger and better for 2017! Hundreds of walkers and runners will be joining us in London and Edinburgh, taking steps and raising money to beat ovarian cancer.

Story

This picture is of my lovely sister, Caroline, who died on May 8th of ovarian cancer. My daughter (10 ) and I are walking 10K (eek!) in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on October 17th 2017 to raise money to help Target Ovarian Cancer find a way to diagnose others earlier. 10K may not seem a long way to many of you but it feels like a marathon to us!

Caroline was to be 60 on 23rd May. She was positive, fit and full of energy, other than the cancer diagnosis, and she remained positive and brave until she died. She still had a lot of life she wanted to live, and many others wanted her to live it too. She had moved to a new village in Somerset only three years previously and was a highly active member of the community: a school governor, church organist, helping at Riding for the Disabled. She always found a way to help others in her life: a sister in ITU units, teaching resuscitation in hospitals, helping research into AIDS. She will be greatly missed, especially by her two lovely children and husband.  Target Ovarian Cancer are making great strides in helping to find ways to detect this terrible disease which is, all too often, diagnosed too late.  Even the price of a cup of coffee helps!
