Fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit (CVUHB)

2019 Cardiff Half Marathon · 6 October 2019 ·
As I work for the NHS, seeing the fantastic care our service offer us is a common occurrence for me.
Following my friend Mari's recent diagnosis of lymphoma, I have seen first-hand the positive effects of the care and compassion delivered to our patients by front-line staff.
Mari is a fellow Eglwyswrw gal, and a dear friend from the days of nursery school, through to primary and also secondary school. Fun and laughter have always been the theme of our friendship, with Mari often leaving me in stitches with her funny comments and humour.
It’s not very often you see Mari without a smile on her face. Despite the worry & upset her recent diagnosis & treatment is causing, her smiley face is rarely absent. Whilst a lot of this is down to her strength and resilience to fight through her treatment, there is no doubt that the care & support the staff at the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit (University Hospital of Wales) offer her is invaluable.
The Unit’s environment is friendly & of a very relaxed nature, which not only provides comfort to its patients; it also allows families and visitors to feel at ease when visiting loved ones.
Mari has always been such an active person... always competing in sports or doing different forms of exercise. She has told me on numerous occasions that running is one of the main things she misses now that she is undergoing treatment... so in honour of that, I have decided to undertake a series of running events over the course of 2019 to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit @ Cardiff to thank them for their care for my very lovely & special friend.
Mari, ti werth y byd i gyd yn grwn.... ✨✨✨✨✨✨
