I know a number of families who have needed the support offered by Children's hospices. They give parents and siblings a much needed break and the support to deal with their child's/sibling's illnesses, helping them every step of the way.

One family in particular that really affected me was the Booths. Joel and Jo's son Jake would be the same age as Joshua and it brings it home when you see and live the story with the family. Jake had battens disease And sadly passed away in December 2013. Forget Me Not Childrens Hospice provided respite care following Jake's diagnosis and supported Joel and Jo as they had to deal with what no parent should have to go through. The pair are inspirational and can't speak highly enough of Forget Me Not. Joel, Jo and Jake's experience is just one example of the work the hospice does, Forget Me Not are currently looking after 100 children and their familes and all receive the tailored care and support they need.

It costs over £3.2million a year to run Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and fundraising efforts cover the majority of this. After watching the Booths story progress and the way they were helped it made me want to give something back... and what better way of doing it than throwing myself out of a plane? :)

So... Dig deep, it could be someone you know that needs the care and support provided by Forget Me Not Children's Hospice! I'm doing this for Jake and his amazing Mum and Dad, but I hope it will raise awareness of the hospice, the work it does, and raise some funds to help others in need!
