I am running the London Marathon! 🏃♀️Seriously!
Although I originally planned to run in 2020 then Covid turned up…I did complete the virtual marathon and gained a Guinness World Record too! But now it is time to run in London!
I originally wanted to do something special for my Big Birthday Year, so tried to gain inspiration from looking back. For my 18th I moved to America to live and work for a year. For the Millennium I decided to celebrate by going on an Everest Base camp trek! For someone who hates walking up hills and hates the cold (especially as we were camping!), climbing the biggest mountain in the middle of winter was a bit off side. 😂 🧗♀️
So - having never run in my life (and hated being forced to run at school), I decided I needed to get fit and do something big. When I was 19 I backpacked in India and Nepal. The Nepalese people are amazing. Up in the mountains, where people are, relatively, very poor, the people are so kind and welcoming, sharing anything with you.
After my Everest trek I sponsored one of the trek guide's sons through school. He attended school on a boarding basis, and his father's wish was for him to get a good education so that his son's life would be less of a struggle.
So now onto my challenge! I am going to run the London Marathon! I started running for the first time in July 2019, completed the Couch to 5K and did my first 5K Park Run in September 2019. I managed to complete the first London virtual marathon after many Covid delays, gaining a Guinness World Record along the way!
I then stopped running as work got busy. But I still had a deferred place for the actual London Marathon in London.
My place became available and I signed up to run this October. I am currently working through my training plan, increasing my mileage each week. It's a long way!!
If you are able to donate to my cause, I would be very grateful! I will also be donating personally. In addition to donating to Global Action Nepal, I will be making donations to Air Ambulance and Cancer Research, as well as the Blue Cross. If any of these causes are dear to your heart, or you just want to ensure I definitely turn up on the day, please help me to raise some funds!
If any businesses would like to sponsor me, please get in touch.
If anyone would like to run with me out training or support me on the day, please let me know. All support is more than welcome! I am a beginner, I don't run fast 😂
I would be over the moon with any donation, no matter how much. If everyone I knew donated £1.00 I would be well on my way to reaching my total! It will give me such motivation to help me complete the 26.2 miles! I warn you now - I will be slow, but I will do everything I can to finish!
Thank you! xxx
