My Husband, Tom had a kidney transplant in October 2011. He was a patient on Ward 33 whilst he was recovering and the care he received from the nursing staff on the ward was outstanding. They really cared and helped him in any way possible. The operation has truly changed his life and I would like to go some way to recognise the hard work of all the staff at the Hospital. I am hoping by raising money, I will help contribute to the purchasing of new equipment for the ward or renal departments so others like Tom will continue to receive quality care and support. To do this I am running 13.1 miles in The Great North Run on Sunday 16th September with my Dad. This will be the longest run I'll have taken part in and I'm currently training to try and do it in a reasonable time! Any donations will be gratefully received and I thank you for your support and generosity.
