Story
A few years ago, my Grandad Rob was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. After a while, my Grandma was no longer able to care for him at their home, so he has had to move into a dementia centre, where he's currently being looked after.
He's been such an excellent Grandad, so I really feel like I want to do something to raise both money and awareness of this horrible disease, so I've decided to do a sponsered run!
The plan is to run 15 miles through the villages/towns where my Grandad has lived, since he's been my Grandad, on Saturday 21st September- World Alzheimer's Day.
I'm currently in week 7 of a 12 week half marathon training programme, which should get me ready for September, but there's still a long way to go.
I would really appreciate any sponsership that people are able to give for the event, which I'll be donating to the Alzhimers Society as a thank you for the excellent work the organisation does. This will then benefit lots of people affected by the illness both locally and nationally. The support I've received so far has been really touching and has really helped spur me on! Some of my amazing friends who know him have said that they'd like to help out too, and run various distances with me, which I know will make all the difference on the day!
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, it is really appreciated!
