The Acts of Hope UK Charity has been raising funds since 2000 to help provide free primary & secondary education to children living in poverty who would otherwise not receive a proper education. The 400+ children age 5 to 16 years attend daily the Acts of Hope Charity School on the outskirts of Bangalore, India and is entirely funded by charitable donations from the UK and India. Recent projects supported by the UK Charity include providing a water purification system, the provision of uniforms, shoes and text books and refurbishing the computer room.
My dad is trustee chair of the charity in the UK and went to visit the school in Bangalore last year. He came back incredibly impressed by the dedication of the teaching staff and the children’s enthusiasm to learn - even those coming from the most difficult backgrounds with little or no family support for education. We take our children's right to an education for granted and it's difficult to imagine your own child going without. Hearing stories about the conditions in which these children live, the hardships they face on a daily basis at such a young age yet still managing to not only learn but thrive has inspired me to help my dad raise money for this amazing charity.
I was lucky enough to secure a place in the RideLondon ballot so 100% of the money I raise goes directly to Act of Hope UK Charity and the children are the primary beneficiary. Their only real chance to escape poverty is through education so please give generously.
