London Marathon 2023 Β· 23 April 2023 Β·

Team Refuge are running the iconic London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for Refuge and survivors of domestic abuse.

Story

In the U.K.:

πŸ›‘ 2 women a week are killed by a current or former partner

πŸ›‘ 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their life time

πŸ›‘ 90% of domestic abuse in a family household happens in the presence of a child

πŸ›‘ And every 30 seconds the police receive a call relating to domestic abuse

❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌

Just a few of the heartbreaking facts around domestic abuse of women and children in the U.K.

As a woman and now a mum of two little girls these chill me to the core

πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ The London marathon has always been on my bucket list and after running the Gran Canaria marathon in November last year at a much slower pace than I planned to (it was flipping hot!)

I have some unfinished marathon business

This will be my 4th (and final πŸ€ͺ) marathon - a few weeks after I turn 40 - which feels very appropriate

And I am so happy to be able to support the incredible work that Refuge do, by doing so

My goal is to raise Β£2000

Β£52 provides safe accommodation for 1 night for a woman and her child

πŸ₯° With your help - we can help them provide over 38 nights πŸ₯°

Thank you for all your support - big and small - every single penny makes a difference
