Story

I am absolutely overwhelmed by the love, support and donations we have received already - Thank You!

Looking back at this page today, it’s ridiculous how much Josh’s story (life!) has changed since I first signed up to this run.

Josh was diagnosed with Crohn’s in July 2023. Despite being incredibly underweight and poorly at the time, Josh seemed to bounce back, managing his new diet and injections like a boss and found a new confidence in life we’d not seen in him before!

Late October 2023, Josh suddenly fell poorly very quickly which resulted in a dash to A&E. Josh was transferred to Southampton hospital where he was rushed for emergency surgery. Josh’s bowel had perforated. 30cm of bowel and his appendix was removed and he has ended up being left with a stoma. Josh spent 28 nights in hospital recovering. Once again, his maturity and bravery dealing with the whole situation was incredible, he literally is the strongest human being I know.

Josh is back to school and navigating his new life with such strength that I wonder daily who the hell he inherited this strength from as it’s certainly not me!

Whilst Josh is the real hero, none of this would have been possible without the support of Southampton's Children Hospital, and the charity I have chosen to run for, CICRA

Please give what you can to help children with Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis and IBDU, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Children CICRA with IBD have a very unpleasant lifelong condition, requiring specialist care throughout childhood which does not have the high profile of other conditions such as cancer or cystic fibrosis. It is common for children with IBD to hide their condition from their friends due to embarrassment. Support for children and families in this often lonely position is vital to their wellbeing. CICRA offer support for families and funds vital research. Please give what you can.

Thank You!
