I’m thrilled to have been selected to be part of the 2023 GOLD project to Senegal! 

A small team of guiders and I will be travelling to and working with Guides du Senegal to support the development of guiding in Senegal to reach more girls and young women.

The aims of the project are:

1) To increase retention of current members and recruit new members

2) To develop a Young Leaders programme

3) Develop a Peer Education programme

4) To develop confidence, leadership and decision making in girls to prepare them for leadership

I currently volunteer in Stevenage as a Guide Leader (for 10-14 year old girls). I am also a District Commissioner which means I help support 10 units in our district Stevenage North. I have also worked with Rainbows in the past and was a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Young leader myself before becoming an adult leader. I am so grateful for the positive impact Girlguiding has on me as a person and with this project I am looking forward to the opportunity to help contribute to this impact for girls and women in Senegal.

The cost of this project is just over £3000 that I will be fundraising for over the next 7 months! I will be carrying out various activities to raise these funds but given the large total any donation here would also be greatly appreciated!
