Story
So finally after covid postponing events and my own injuries, I am hoping to run the marathon I was due to run in 2020! I am ready for the challenge again even being 5 years older than my last marathon and a bit more wear and tear on my body, I’m not going to let it stop me!
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy many amazing experiences and running the London Marathon in 2019 still tops them all (apart from my wedding day of course!). It was extremely hard but such an exciting and rewarding experience. The pain I went through before, during and afterwards is nothing compared to the daily battle that people suffering with mental health go through every day. For me there is no other cause I would rather support than the great work of the charity Mind. Not only to raise money but to also help create awareness for people who are suffering and affected by mental health. It is a charity that I strongly support and a cause that is very close to my heart.
Sadly, it is 15 years ago that one of our best friends took his own life at just 30 years old after battling for more than 8 years with his mental health. My friends, Tony and I often talk about him and the memories we shared together since some of us were just 10 years old. He had the biggest heart and always made us laugh. We miss you Paul and will never forget you. xxx
Mind, the mental health charity, believe that no one should have to face their mental health problems alone. Sadly, mental health disorders are on the increase especially in children. This could be due to social media, lockdowns and isolation and unbelievably suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds.
